Perhaps a simple fix, maybe not, I started using the 2010 edition and when I try to start working on a cube primitive, soon as I hit 5 to go into shaded the vertices get a skewered up.

Anyone else had this?

Try setting XSI_EMULATE_OPENGL to 1.4.

Click Start > All Programs > Autodesk > Autodesk Softimage 2010_SP1_x64 > UserTools.

In the list of Configuration Files, click setenv.bat and then click Edit File.

Add this line to setenv.bat:

set XSI_EMULATE_OPENGL=1.4

Seems to display fine now, thanks Softimage.

Not sure what the red message entails but happens every time I open up Rendertree/Material Manager and it freezes until I restart the program. Any ideas?

Does this happen with every scene? Or just some scenes (and perhaps just with some materials ?

Are you using the XSIAmbientOcculsion (http://xsisupport.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/ambient-occlusion-number-of-samples/)shader in any of your materials?

Nope, just trying to assign a typical blinn shader with the default noimage texture.

I'm also just working on a simple scene so not quite sure, perhaps I should export.

Another problem I ran into was that I was looking to convert a .hdr image that I have to a vible format for XSI (i.e .map)

I ran this tool and appended the location where the .hdr file was located with the hdrtoxsi.exe but it said couldn't open file.

Got it from XSI Base
http://www.xsibase.com/tools/external.php?detail=92

Anything simple that I may left out in the xsi command prompt?

Mine was like this.

G:\images\hdrtoxsi.exe Apt-probe.hdr Apt-probe.map

Why did you even search for this tool? I wrote that tool more than 5 years ago for an old version of XSI and mental ray that did not support hdr. But Softimage supports .hdr directly since 2006, there is no reason for hdr2xsi to exist!

yea, had my doubts and tried connecting the .hdr node and it worked, thanks for pointing it out.
