I haven't used any other wacoms or tablets besides my intuos4 (medium).
You won't be disappointed with an Intuos. :D

I advise you to try it because bigger is not necessarely better. I have an Intuos A5 and it is okay.

totally agree with the above post!
for me the medium size works best
it should not be too big to handle neither should it be too small to work with!
i bought an intuos 3 a year ago!
and i must tell you that you have done one of the best decision in your cg gadgets you could do!
it gave me a complete boost in my work!
intuos 4 have all the controls to its one side while intuos 3 have half buttons on the left and half on the right!
but there is quite a difference between their prices also
good luck!

Depends on how you plan to use it, and as well the size and # of your monitor setup.
I'm running the old Intuos 3, but the widescreen version on a dual widescreen setup and I am quite happy. It's not a perfect 1 to 1 ratio but it works quite nicely. There is also the option to map the tablet specifically to one screen or just a specific area of a screen.
I'd probably get an Intuos 4 Medium or Large if I were you, or something similar in the Intuos 3 line. Personally I hope they bring back the widescreen models in the future, although if I ever buy another tablet it's going to be built into the monitor, Cintique style, when those things or similar come down in price. Depending on your ability to stretch your budget, you may want to look into something like that now, considering the Large Intuos 4 is just about half it's price, why not go all the way at those ridiculous rates?

Five years ago I got an Intuos 3 and it's still kicking like a mule. It's a 6"x8" and sometimes I want a little more space, but almost always it works exactly as I need. In fact I have a wide screen monitor now and it's still mapped perfectly to my desktop with no syntax (or none noticeable, anyway, it's gotta be there somewhere ...).
I have heard that the button layout on the Intuos 4 is somewhat less appealing, but I've never used it and thus have no idea. The Intuos 3 is highly recommended, though. And with the surface portion being replaceable and the fact that you can purchase new pens and pen tips online, it's a pretty ideal tool.
