View Full Version : Possible locked limbs on maya rig
redsigma 02-01-2010, 05:46 AM I'm currently working in a group of indy game developers to create a game for the XBLA. We are utilizing the Xbox Avatars and Microsoft has provided us with the animation rig. I'm still novice when it comes to Maya but I've been getting by up until now. I've noticed that I cannot move the bottom limbs of the fingers but the other parts of the finger are movable. I've come to the conclusion that the template came with these parts frozen or locked somehow, and I can't seem to figure out how to unfreeze them. I've provided a diagram showing what parts of the finger I mean. Any advice as to how I can unlock these limbs would be greatly appreciated.

if an attribute on a joint is locked there are a couple different ways to unlock the attribute.
The most basic way is to select the object (bone, mesh, locator, etc...) in the channel box on the right hand side of the maya interface you can right click in the grey blank area and select the channel control.
This brings up a window with three collumns. There are also three buttons at the bottom.
What you will want to do is find the Rotate X Y and Z attributes and click the "<< Move" button this will move the attributes from the Non-Keyable Hidden colloumn to the Keyable Colloumn. The attribute may still be locked but it will visible in the channel control.

That did it, all parts of the finger are moving now. Thank you very much :)
