This is my real first rendering in MAYA trying to gein an effect like radiosity with an tool called RayDiffuse and an ambient light.

ray diffuse with settings:

Diffuse Density : 1.6
Ray Distance : 4.0
Ray Spread : 150.0

ambient light with settings:

Ambient Shade 0
Raytraced Shadows ON
Shadow Radius 90
Shadow Rays 16 (this will give you rather grainy
shadows, for less grains increase the value)

Set translate Y to 90.

Translate Y value set to 40
TranslateY value set to 90

the shadows are a bit rough tho. i got the tip to increase the rays of the ray tracer. but with that i plan to increase the density of of diffusely shaded areas as well...hope that turns out better...

hope you are not too harsh with my first real render
