View Full Version : Fog in Mental Ray
MissOptimist 01-31-2010, 01:28 PM Behind the 3d model of my house, I want to add a moving fog. With maya software, I can use environment fog, but under mental ray, that option is not there. Any suggestions on how I can get a realistic rolling fog that is fast to render?

goto visor under fluids import maya ground-rolling fog.
position and render.
maybe hook up the volume samples in renderglobals.

I went to Dynamics section, then to Fluid Effects, and I didn't see the visor.
And wouldn't Fluid take a long time to render? I want to keep the render time as low as possible. and plus my whole scene is low poly

ya rolling ground fog is pretty slow to render.
then you need to find another solution.
pretty fast ist the dust things in visor which is with the ocean examples, could help also sometimes.
visor is under menu --> window --> general editors --> visor.
cheers

Hey, depends on your setup, but I use maya env fog with mental ray, practically no differance in render time...
