WHY DOESN'T THE POST HAVE A 5-STAR RATING????
awesome image...but all the bombs are exactly the same...no difference in falling from either ship you should fix that (adds more feeling to it) and that less reflective more dirt thing is also good

cool! I can almost feel the camera shaking from the force! Fix the missiles and the reflections and you've got something better then 4 stars... But then again, who is to say how reflective it should be...

Simply beautiful!
How do you export from Rhino to Cinema?
Cheers,

Btw, the map is perfect, some of these B-17's were factory-fresh ones and made only a few missions before being shot down!

been gone for awhile, remember seeing this in the WIP maybe!?! Truly a fine Piece of work, only crits i have to offer, the plexiglass in the nose, its refracting like real glass, it also might be a bit grungier overall, those aircraft were given little or no astetic maintenence at all. Filthy birdies. Also the optically flat plane on the front of the nose where they would put the bombsight looks awful small, i only have docs on f model 17's here, no G's, will check on that. Also the Barrels on the 50's look just a bit on the skinny side. Just observations, take em for what they are worth, it dosn't dim the beauty of this shot in my eyes at all, loveit.

Incredible atmosphere, very well made, congrats :)

Very very nice. However, one thing really sticks out as just wrong... the planes in the background could not possibly be making jet-like contrails. Unless they're all me262's, the only functional jets of WWII.
Danoku

Just a note, contrails are not the result of jet exhaust, any exhaust will create them at altitude. The extreme cold under the right humidity will instantly freeze the water vapor and oil particles that come off reciprocating engines. Might check the old Martin Caidin book on the USAAF. Lots of great shots of what they called the bomber streams, leaving miles long contrails by the hundreds. Also has accounts about the dread the crews had when the trails started since it was a big sign pointing right at them for the fighters to follow.

Danoku, glad to see you again! Thank you very much for your comments and the help gave me in the WIP thread:)
The contrails were made by P-51D, which found some fighters of
Luftwaffe appeared in the 10 o'clock direction

Excellent work! :)
Just an idea: Some flak detonations would add a lot of atmosphere to the scene. It seems too pretty to be a massive work of destruction ;)

That is some excellent 5-star work there, mate! Very nicely done!!! You know your stuff!
I agree on the flak-burst comments. Most targets of the 8th Air Force were industrial, and therefore defended by AAA.
Dirtier? Hmm maybe. I like it the way it is.
One tip maybe: use alpha-maps for the propellers. The 3D object motion-blur is showing unfortunately. Alpha maps will also speed up your rendering a lot!
Superb composition, by the way!! 5 fat stars from me!

Awesome Image!
One tiny crit:
The surfaces are too perfect. Even new planes had a slight ripple to the aluminum skins inbetween the rivets. Like this.
http://www.dm.af.mil/demoteam/2002photos/b-25.jpg
Also the plex on the nose is too perfect. Maybe add a slight fractal bump.
Any chance of a Wire Frame ?
Looks Great
The way I see the two Contrails iin the top corner looks more like their fighters then bombers though they look like their doing some pretty tight turns for Bombers, Im probaly wrong though...

This is terribly cool. I'd like to see an animation out of this.
A few others have posted quivels about the bombs in the background, and I'm afraid I'm with them on the bombs issue.
For one, it feels strange, whether or not its true to life, to see a short row of bombs dropping from them in the background. A more dynamic look would have more bombs dropping, and the bombs on the bottom of the rows would have greater distances between bombs, not to mention the arc would increase, and the bottom half of bombs would be directing downwards.
Just a thought.
Its a great model.

Firstly, wow! That's one beautiful shot. In particular I like the con trails of the escorts in the background. The environment is fantastic! Perfectly lit. Amazing. ...and on with the crits. I'm with most people, the skin needs to be broken up and more uneven between the rivets, and yeah, maybe a bit more grungy/diffuse in spots. It's the only thing I'd humbly recommend on the textures. The .50 cal machine guns (particularly those of the dorsal turret, but I guess they're all the same) do seem a bit spindly. I think someone already commented on that. And hey! Where's the bombadier?! Splendid work, I did drool over it for a while before adding my two cents. I say leave the flak bursts out, it'd make the shot too busy.

Song bird, top notch work here, this is a master piece done in cinema 4d :)
i have not critics :), i only can say, that is the fourth thread from chinese users that rocks :).
keep up the great work man!
one question: how many time you spent in the scene?? time of plane modelling??
off-center

incredible scene  , but i have to agree that the surface is to clean :D

looks excellent! Must say, the Camera's placement gives a great feel for the intensity of the action taking place in there- theres something about the propellers that suck me in.. well done *thumbs*

griffin44, you are right--the bombadier is missed out:) I must finish this work before last saturday and have no time to do it. That's a pity indeed:hmm:
Many people feel the skin is too clean, me too.Drawing the texture maps makes me tired, I think I need more experience for it:p
WhiteBlaizer, I spent about 1 month on the scene and 1 months on modelling. All the works were done at home:)

bombs away!!!
that reminds me the Pearl Harbor scene when they did try to build the fotress just to do some serious bombing. Sad ending though, but still looks identical.
Whaooo...
Very nice model for the plane and I like the picture.
On the other hand, I like less the bombs, they miss detail, no ?!
Good work
