did you use multiple emitters? what is that box hanging in there, some kind of force? im really interested in how you managed to do it!!

Thanks for the comments. The setup is really simple. For the stem I'm using a lathed spline where I animated the vertices. The mushroom is a torus with animated rotation. I then stuck particles to them using pflow. For the stem I used the 'lock/bond' to keep the particles stuck to the stem and a 'find target' to have them move up the stem into the mushroom. Ill also create another particle system that sends particles out along the ground in a 'shockwave' effect.

That box you see is just the target of a camera. Not supposed to even be visible but max's playblast does its own thing. :D

looks sweet so far. The Lots Of Robots DVD has a nice tutorial with scene files with it if any one has it. Might be worth checking out :)

really low quality playblast of a test nuke using fumefx. I doubt I'll use fumefx for the actual nuke, but I wanted to do some experimenting.

FumeFX does a great job at creating mushroom clouds, looking good, nice billowing movement. ;)

Hmmmmmm, 3dsMax afterburn and fume usage in this challenge will most likely destroy all competition. There are a few people that I hope wont join. Lol because if they do........? But you are going to be tough to beat. Really neat tests so far.....looks like the nuke in the RealTime UK "storm birds" trailer. Can't wait to see the final.

Hehe.....chicken?.....I'm actually consider joining. ;) Just think afterburn is made for Nukes. It's really awesome.

Re: FumeFX, yeah well we cant be daunted by competition, knowing our luck some dude using FumeFX will join 2 days before deadline and pip everyone at the post. What can you do? ;) Come on Wayne. haha
