Hi pholks,
I fully realize that rendering directly to AVI's and MOV's is not a wise practice, but like many people, I've still occasionally stooped to that in a pinch. And like others, I've experienced the occasion where you get right near the completion of the final animation when something goes kaput and all is lost.
Well for AVI files, that scenario might not need to end so badly. Peter Katreniak is an astronomer who has written some interesting software including his own AVI Repair utility that can resurrect incomplete AVI files...
