Hey Folks,

Is there a quick way in Max to select/show/identify polygons that are 5/6/7/etc. sided? Did a quick search, but couldn't find anything relevant.

You could apply a meshsmooth and then look for irregualrities in your mesh. Look for something like five pollies sharing one vertex, that spot on the unmeshsmoothed model will probably have an n-gon.

That's sort of what I was planning, but I was wondering if Max had a Lightwave-ish selector that allowed you to select 2 point polys, 3 point, 4 point and > 4 point... Maybe there is a script out there... I haven't checked that possibility. Thanks for the reply.

It lets you define the criteria by which to select polygons, so you can select just tris, or just polys with 5 sides, etc. You can also use it to select verts that share n faces, which is great for weeding out the poles in your model.

Perfect. That did the trick. Thanks RH!
