View Full Version : Object not closed?
PlagueJester 01-25-2010, 07:01 PM So, I'm doing a tutorial to make a cross pipe. In it, I make two cylinders and combine them. I use the boolean tool and "union" to make them one object. However, when I try it insists that the first object "isn't closed." I have no idea what that means. Anyone else know what it is?
Thanks in advance,
Kyle
Edit: After the third time of closing the program down and retrying, it worked. I still don't know what the problem is, but I got past it.

Do not use boolean operations. I have never used boolean in Modo, but can say from other 3D programs I have tried those operations in that they almost always produce faulty/ messed up geometry that needs to be cleaned up before you can continue modeling with it.
Better model the pipe by hand in the first place, this way you can control the geometry to be exactly what you want it to be. Create one cylinder, duplicate and scale it down, inverse/ flip polygons of the scaled down cylinder and weld/bridge the border edges.

Hey man, thanks. Now I won't have that problem. I get frustrated pretty easy, and that was annoying the piss out of me, lol.
