I am making an extensive video of a real-world 3D environment. It is an outside look at several buildings at my school, and I am using paint effects for the plants and trees, and fur for the grass. This creates a very realistic look for the exterior. Unfortunately, we do not have time (we have a due date) to do the interior of the buildings, so we chose to use raytraced reflections in the windows to make it look like it is a really bright day and the windows are just reflectiog everything.
BUT - Fur and paint effects don't show up in the reflections!! Without them in the reflections, the entire scene looks terrible! Someone out there.....WHAT CAN I DO? The fur and the effects look great but I need those reflections. There must be some way to get them to show up. We are rendering the video on a SGI Origin 2000 64 proc server so rendering time doesn't matter. How can I do it??? THANKS GUYS!!

make sure the settings on you strokes are right first and they may show up in the reflection with the raytrace.

otherwise i think you might have to fake the reflection by mapping a previously rendered image to the specular color of the window.

hope it works out for ya.

i would suggest the same like Darrell Croswell. try to use a reflection map. paint effects doesn't render in reflections and behind transparent objects.
