Hey guys!

I put off this matte painting for a while. But after seeing avatar I decided to turn half finished it into some fan art. The movie was very inspiring so it was good fuel to get this done.

Here are some images of the process. I didn't do any explaining with them but there was a lot of image manipulation, color correction and painting.

I hope you enjoy!

Thanks

It's cool man! I love how dynamic it is, good use of shapes and space there, My only real comment about it, is that the focus point, being the large mountain on the ground, is a disturbingly different color than the rest of the mountains around it. I would expect it to be a lot less white, and more of that magenta color spilling on the clouds and surrounding env. Cool stuff though man.

this is really cool, the colors are great and the idea is awesome, maybe some ice connections or bridges between ricks could make it look more complex , also I think the foreground needs more detail like ice drops , hanging all over something like this maybe

Top work Matt, looks great.

My only crit is that the foreground rock hanging down needs a bit of polishing. For something so close the edges are quite straight and it looks a bit 2d cut out/stuck in. Also, maybe you are trying some dof but the blur on it just comes across as like a low res source to me. I don't think the rock is close enough to camera to warrant blur anyway really.

The rest of the image is perfect though!

Hey guys!

Thanks for all the comments and crits! I will address everything that was mentioned above tonight and hopefully repost tomorrow. Really glad you guys took the time to comment and help with making this matte better.

Thanks again!
