UPDATE: We're meeting this Saturday, May 1st (same location as before). There's no set topic, but we'll be showing off work of the group, talking about upcoming events (Siggraph, E3, ComicCon) and we'll also try to set up a group screening of Iron Man 2. I hope to see you there!

UPDATE: The next meeting is Saturday, February 27th. The meeting will be at the Art Institute of California - San Diego (http://www.artinstitutes.edu/sandiego/) from 5PM until 7PM. We'll be talking about Blender, looking at some examples of what Blender can do, and hopefully have some live demos of the product.

The San Diego CG Group is proud to welcome graphic artist Paul Hartsuyker (http://www.hartworks.net/index.htm), who will be doing a presentation on Blender, and what it has to offer in its latest Alpha build. It should be a good time, and I hope to see you there!

Hey everyone! The first meeting of the new and improved San Diego CG Group is meeting Saturday, January 30th from 5PM - 7PM at the Art Institute of California - San Diego (http://www.artinstitutes.edu/sandiego/) campus.

The main presentation will be by me, Floyd Bishop. I'll be going over some basics of nCloth in Maya. We'll also have a meet and greet as well as time to show off everyone's work. Please feel free to bring some of your work to share with the group.

We're not software specific, limited to students, or anything like that. Everyone is welcome, from the novice beginner to the seasoned pro. The point of the group is to help foster a lively computer graphics community here in San Diego.

This looks like a great idea (non-software-specific CG group), I wish I could find a group like this in either Los Angeles or Orange County. If anyone knows of one, please let me know.

Floyd Bishop, Hello...
Good to see the activity. I am a member of the local Lightwave, modo, and former Blender User Groups (it had a short life?) in San Diego and have taught in the local community colleges and workshops, so this planned event sounds to be excellent. I have a previous obligation with friends (Saturday night?? meeting) so, unless it gets re-scheduled, I won't be able to make it. Keep me on the list.
As an assist, I have posted your notice, with a link, on the Lightwave, modo and BlenderArtists.org forums, for those who don't routinely get over here. Best to you.

Paul,

Sorry for the Saturday meeting time, but it worked out best for both the school schedule as well as many friends who have work week obligations.

I plan on going to dinner somewhere with whomever wants to go out afterwards. The Studio Diner (http://www.studiodiner.com/)has worked well in the past. How about that maybe?

Also, I've set up a Facebook page for the group (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/San-Diego-CG-Group/278022933480?ref=ts).

Just a reminder, the meeting is this Saturday from 5-7PM. Just tell the guard at the door that you are there for the 3D group meeting.
