The inspiration for this entry is Feast (one of the goriest monster films) and lots of monster flicks. I'm still indecisive whether to go for the exact look or create my own monster. But for certain I'll be adding victims and such. Still very early in the idea :D

The Story:
In late 90s In order to create a better war soldiers, there was an experiment in a small village trying to alter human genes by mixing with other animals. The brain behind this project is Dr. Surayan, a gene therapy expert. The experiment ended with a success and huge failure; they have created creatures stronger than anyone could expected just as they wanted but these no longer have human soul. The creatures can grow at accelerated speed with super human strength, extremely violent and with insatiable appetite for human flesh.

Dr. Surayan reported the testing results to government. Upon receiving this report, the government immediately ordered to cease experiment and to shutdown the facility.
Dr. Surayan was ashamed of his hell spawn creation so he decided to blow himself up along with the laboratory in hope of cleansing his sin. What the Dr. didn't know was these beasts survived the blast. Now they are out of control and out for some human flesh.

The Creatures:
I'm going for very gory over the top monster looking to rampage and kill human

Design Direction (As inspired by Feast monster and the Pumpkin Head)
- Teeth, lots of teeth/fangs
- Rubber Suit

This set shows monsters I like and would like to take as inspiration for my own piece. I like how B-Movies are filled with gores and blood.....and also blood thirst monsters really make them extra scary (or cheesy)

Still I'll be working more on the character sheet of my monster before moving fourth.

Tonight I started thinking about the monster. I want the beasts to be very gory over the top monsters with blood/saliva dripping to add more horror look. At this stage I still use Feast monster as my main inspiration But I would most likely to alter during the design sculpt. The monster is to roughly the size of large human (Pro Wrestler) and to have the look of rubbery suit with man inside.

For these dew days I'll still be working on how the shot may look. This one I came up rather quickly...I was planning to show some nudity but thought it might offend some viewers. So what if it's more suggestive than showing. I'll work out on a few more shots before moving forth to the sculpting phase.

Dude, your sketch is very good. I liked the legs in the form of dragon.

Let me make one comment:
I can not read a story in his own image, just a monster ravaging the
city ...

my understand about B-movies are there is much bloody, but always has an onset in some kind of story ...

well, that is

Hugs
I will see you post always.

Yongkiat
01-23-2010, 03:53 AM
Thank you very much raultabajara. Your comment is really valid. I'm refining the story at the moment and try to fit everything together. I think by the end of this weekend I should have storyline settled... :D

Yongkiat

Working on base story last night. Here's what I have so far.

Design Direction (As inspired by Feast monster and the Pumpkin Head)

I'm working on the design of the monster to be horrid yet able to make as rubber suit like what B-movies use. This is another rough. Still I'll be working more on the design.

The material will be Flesh like but with long random hair. The leg's a bit weird looking.

This sketch is similar to the previous scene previs. but now I'm having the victim girl in the middle surrounded by the Eaters. I think it would be nice to be a still frame from a horror B-movie as oppose to a poster as posters can't (tend not to) reveal too much about the monster details.

Boy you have strong skills in anatomy, it shows especially for the large muscular creature..very nice work

I like where you're heading with this. i think to keep it b-movie it will be important to over do the gore, just heaps of blood all over the monsters, with the terrified girl caught between them, with blood all over her. maybe you could think about making the monsters some how lame, not actually terrifying. so that its more cheesy b-movie. just my thoughts, great work !

@LightSovereign, thank you :D This guy will be all muscular.. (Rubber muscle). I'm using FreedomofTeach model for reference of this dude. :D

@Emptyshell, you are absolutly right....gotto have a lot of blood and gore Will see how to apply cheesiness to the scene :D Thx mate.

@Xion-Cajou, thank you very much. This challenge topic is one fun ride for certain.And I think your entry has got all the coolness!

Did a quick size comparison with normal 5ft7 person. The creature would most likely be very muscular and hulky.

Starting now by constructing a basic ZSphere model. As the design of my creature's still quite loose. I'll be refining more once I have skinned the ZSphere. Hence for now the ZSphere construct's very simple.

It definitely looks promising.
I think the best thing about this composition is seeing all the weird posters people dig up LOL the Feast one you've found is no different hehe

Yongkiat
01-24-2010, 04:23 AM
@soapy, You are right :) Some sketches were done in ArtRage 2.5 and others in ZBrush QuickSketch...both are really cool little apps to sketch out. :)

@MVDB, Thank you for stopping by..I've been admiring your stuff for quite some time now.

@FranciscoAlvarezDelgado, Thank you sir. The first things that came to my mind when I heard about the contest are men in rubber suits, monsters, half ravished girl, and of course blood...I'll try to incorporate those in my piece.

I'll be working more on the modeling this coming week :D

Started roughing out the form of the Eater
..still very primitive.... but to get the sense of overall mass.

@Intervain, you are right.it's fun to see how the old posters got dug up..the yare very cool indeed.

Still very early form of the creature. This time I adjusted the head to be a bit larger....so the stunt actor could fit within. Also the over all mass is increased and he;s going to be more rotund than full of muscle.

@MVDB, thank you. It's Sunday here today so I guess i'll have more time to refine this monster before Monday starts.. :D

@mdavid, Thank you..one thign I worry is the gores might shun viewers away :) as I was planning a very bloody scene. Will keep posting the progress here.

@JoergPatrias, Thank you..I love speed sculpting as it allows me to quickly define what's in my head in 3d. I hope the final result of this will be one gory monster :D

@LightSovereign, thank you sir. I'll be adding some teeth for him soon.

Juicy flesh eater, man. Slick idea and execution. Gratuitous ketchup usage is the key to all successful monster movies. :buttrock: I think you should push his mutation further, and give him a second, smaller head peaking out of his armpit or something.

Love your work. :buttrock:

@brunothurner: Thank you sir.

@Xion-Cajou, it's gonna be awhile before seeign teh textured version as I'm so overwhelmed with other stuff :D

@RageOfAges: The last one was a MatCap RS_ClassicBronze :D

@LightSovereign, thank you...it's pretty fun doing these WIP challenges as we gradually see things come to life.....although mine at turtle speed right now :D

@ravioli_rancher, LOL Very cool idea... let me have a thought on that perhaps one of his fellow monsters....should have that deformation. :D Thank you for coming by

@BUZZFX, thank you.. will try to get to texturing phase soon :D

@stephanielandry: Thank you mate.... :D Glad you like it so far

@ScottMc: You are right I was thinking about black gleaming eyes.... Will see how it turn out.

@hulkmad27: Try ZBrush, you iwll be addicted! Drop me a line if you have any questions, would be happy to have another fellow ZBruh friend :D (I also use Maya / Silo / Modo)

@Aven99: >:D Thank you for your encouragement. I'll try my best sir.

@soapy, Thank you... Wish I have more time for this project though.

Didn't have time at all over the weekend until now...But managed to continue on the skin part of the monster... I think by next week I'll have to get moving on the female character and/or texturing this beasty.

Only if we don't have to work...we'll have more time for this fun challenge :D

Yongkiat,

Nice dry skin sculpting too go along with his hardy meat eating phsyique.

His blood thirsty head seems too small. Almost too perfectly proportioned for a B-movie critter. Maybe make some of the teeth thicker, or push the nose down a bit.

Maybe instead of multiple heads, he can have superflous nipples dangling by a thread from his pecs. Anything to cheese him up a tiny bit.

Again, wonderful work. Anxious to see the frantically screaming pin up :applause:

@FranciscoAlvarezDelgado:
Thank you...Still in the sculpting phase..man I'm slowing down a lot....

@ravioli_rancher:
Always some cool ideas from you. Teh teeth crit is really helping I'll be adjusting so it would be less orderly :D and the Pin up is still a long way to go..considering my work load.

@RageOfAges:
LOL that's the main intention B-flick ...... Will be more B-movie like when I have the half naked pin up.

@Paperboy:
Thank you. Hope I can achieve the runner suit look with some texturing soon.

@mdavid:
Thank you for your encouragement man.

Although the final pic won't have much of his back view I decided to go ahead and give it the detail work. Still snailing my way to the modeling phase...Now I want to start on other elements of the scene....badly..
