View Full Version : WIP: Final animation: Fast Film
Shademaster 08-27-2003, 07:38 PM Update: www.shademaster.nl/film/finaldivx.avi
Hello everybody,
This is the thread about my student project for my current 3D producer course. This is my final animation. I made something simillair earlier this year:
This was my first F-curves test. It didn't feature any good modelling, lighting and texturing.
I want to revise that animation with better modelling, lighting and more polished animation. Deadline is monday and I still have to render 600 frames out of 1000 so I'll have enough to do! Here are the wires/renders of the new bumpercar itself:

And here is a bad test animation:
i'll have to rework the animation in this one and there is also some weird problem with the clouds, they have light blue spots on them! Does anyone know what causes this??
Comments greatly appreciated!

the stills look very funky...
love both the animations but couldn't tell which car type you intended to use...
the startup.mov car is cool..little movement/flicking on one of the clouds. bumpercar.mov one is pretty cool in terms of animation...really enjoyed it..had lots of character...but i prefer the other car.
please post final..

Very good! The shaky view from the pilot's seat put a big smile on my face. :)

Yeeha, cool car! Love the chrome pipes, and the red nose cone material looks excellent.

ok, this new bumpercar is just awesome ! really groovy. austin powers could sit in this one ;)
the anim is great too. good timing.
i noticed the little artefact, with some dots on a light blue line. sorry, no idea about what causes that.

Thank you all for the positive feedback! , I'll explain the story in a nutshell:
MrWood (standard Cinema 4d figure) is walking around looking really bored when suddenly....*flash* he sees this blanket draped over a car like shape....blanket gets pulled of and tadaah: supermegaultraextraninja futuristic ride! MrWood jumps in all excited and full of anticipation presses the START! button.
What you see then is the small movie of all the extra gadgets extending and the car shooting away in something really close to hyperspeed. Wat follows now are some ridiculous (and I mean ridiculous) shots that emphaphis speeeeed.
MrWood fiercely tries to press the STOP! button but he fails because of the incredible acceleration. Finally he manages to press the button (way I was gonna show that is by putting a shot in it where you see the car travelling at great speed filmed from a great distance like that Thrust world record run) and suddenly the car STOPS!
MrWood wakes up lying 300 feet from the car. While regaining his senses he spot's a fighter plane ready for take off but with no pilot in the cockpit. He get's up and runs towards the fighter plane..
End.
Really childish and simplistic but I try to get the Roadrunner slapstick humor across with good directing and sound.
Let's see how it turns out!

Small update,
I sort of finished the animation:
http://www.shademaster.nl/movies/final.avi
(11 mb divx 5.05)
I am not happy with the end explosion and there are still shots missing but at least this is to give you an impression of the final (I hope).

Note to self: I must see the divx version once I get home!
If the second movie is better than the .mov version, I'm in for one hell of a treat!
How did you do the shaking? Is there a plugin?
Excellent renders! The rocket trail is great! (those are made from volumetrics with fall off? Is it an actual mesh?) Keep it up!!

The new car rocks, but I have to admit there are some some scenes from the original that I really miss. I loved the shot looking back with lots of camera shake, and also the one at the end where the car peeled off and the camera overshot the action.
