can someone point me towards a tutorial on rigging in 2.50? ive never done a rig before and ive figured out placing bones but not actually rigging a model

thanks for the link it kinda helped but i really need to know about assigning bones to meshes and he didnt really go into depth on that(this is my first time even taking a crack at rigging) i have found tutorials for2.49 but i had trouble translating that information to the new UI

Sorry about that, thought you want info on setting up the rig itself. What you're after is generally referred to as 'skinning' or 'weighting'.

Are you familiar with Bone Heat Weighting from 2.4x? In 2.5x it's simply called Automatic Weights. The general procedure is to select the mesh, Shift-select the Armature and then Parent [Ctrl+P] choosing the Automatic option. It should give good results, depending on how the rig itself is set up ... but you can refine the deformations by doing further manual painting of weights (which I rarely do, so I can't offer much info there).
