Yep, well my theme in this challenge is going to be as the title says. and Im going to use my old script to generate these 'beings'.
Heres a taste of these beings and my portfolio thread about them:

I desided to stick with the old metal material, but changed the script
so that it creates also these tentacles, controls for them and a cluster
of black eyes.
Now it looks more like a being and I couldnt stop my self, I also created
an expression to create three LOD:s for these. I just set one attribute
now tentacles, eyes and the body have different tesselations....
Damn Im again more interested creating a tool than creating the actual image.
But now I have the beings ready.. so back to the actual image :P

well, now Ive twaked the materials a bit more.. there seemed to be a bug in the being creator, in the material and reflection section... but now it looks as it should.
and now Ive made also a pose tool for these.. I just select the being root node and a target mesh and it places the feet to the mesh and randomly lifts some of them a bit to the air.
ps. and btw everything you see here is prosedural.. no file textures used

Well, I believe this might be almoust the finished piece here.. only thing that I might add here are some small clouds to the sky.. and then just render the highrez image.

Hmm.. still something is missing. I was trying to achieve a miniature feeling here in one point and this doesnt have it.. maeby Ill ditch the fog and cranck up the dof.

ok, removed the fog, changed the color to oldish purple and cropped the image a bit. this way the beings get to the center. This might be the final look..
kojala

ok, the cropping was a bad idea :). but anyway Im thinking redoing some of the beings heads cos they lack the detail I had in the old nanobots. And somehow its still not as miniature as it should be.

hey - this looks really interesting!
The creatures are really strange - nice and pretty unique. Perhaps the camera angle is a bit to straight on to create the right drama. I think lowering it so it looks up at the invaders could be something to try.

This is a great image and I like it a lot, the only thing missing I thinks is some people or vehicles.

True 'whitemagus', fog creates a nice depth feeling there. I might put it back in some point. Now Ive rebuilded the beings heads giving them a feaw more iterations so they are more detailed.
And added feaw humans there (if you can see). I have to add quite meny of them because they are so small..

Here is a detail shot of these (even more) falling humans.. the beigns seem to throw them down to the ground. :) shot is without any dof, fog or color corrections.

glad that I didnt post the final image yet, because I noticed that horizontal fog is on the foreground too as it should be only in the background.. have to fix that. If I then could post the final image. damn, always finding some bugs in it

They are coming and taking over our cities, and they are huge...
This is the story basically and the scene is like a miniature set from a cheap scifi movie.

you are right I totaly missed the humans, It is a pity because you should had use a point of view that we could see them on the foreground.
Still is one of my fav's!

thanks.. I just didnt have the time to bring more humans to the front, so the main view is in the beings.

Had to fix some things in the Final image. Dof was a bit off and the purple coloring was way too strong. So I would like this to be the actual Final Image.
