While certainly interesting, this post seems a bit premature as it will probably take quite a while for Softimage (and especially Mental Ray) to support this. ;)

I think its a great idea, because we all know that UV maps are a pain in the $#!!.

well they use it to produce Bolt.

but yea will take a long time to see it implemented.

maybe I'm wrong, but didn't Lightwave have procedurals that didn't need any kind of UV map? I remember being shocked when i switched to XSI that I had to make a UV map for any kind of texture.
