View Full Version : noob modeling problem
godeus25 08-27-2003, 05:36 AM Hi all,
I'm teaching myself to use c4d and have come across a problem I can't figure out by examining all the menus and guessing. I've modeled a left foot and now want to make a right foot from it. what should I do?

any number of things, but the simplest may be to just stick your mesh into a mirror object.

i'm using a symetry object to get a rough idea of what the model will look like as you can see in my wip link below. but now I want to pose it and need to have the left leg not mirror what the right leg does.

Click on the symetry object and Hit 'C' on the keyboard. this will make it editble.

There are two ways to this.
1. As Mothball mentioned press "C" on your symmetry
object. This turns the symmetry object in editable
mesh. The mirrored geometry is now selected and
you can split the object to get two meshes - one for
left nad one for right.
2. You can copy-paste the object and on the new
object you can do a negative scale transformation.
Be sure to use the Scale dropdown in the coordinates
manager. I make after this a Reset System in the
Functions menu.
