01-19-2010, 08:42 AM
Aww, looks like someone's a little shy :p
Do you have a plan for a story?
01-19-2010, 09:55 AM
I like the idea of a shy monster. good luck michael
01-19-2010, 10:12 AM
yeah very nice concept!
01-19-2010, 10:54 AM
great idea  keep going
01-19-2010, 12:45 PM
And there is no way i am staying away this one....Subscribed :D
He was a clumsy friendly giant.
01-20-2010, 07:03 PM
lol amazing concept. I love the pose and expression!
01-20-2010, 07:05 PM
adorable! I've often thought about that. Stepping on cars and big objects, without shoes, might actually hurt. If you think about the difficulty a normal size human would have destroying a proportionally sized city, it would be pretty difficult with lots of sharp things.
01-20-2010, 08:12 PM
haha, awesome :D I love ur character work, really sweet monster :)) good luck with ur entry!
01-20-2010, 08:20 PM
The latest is the idea !
01-20-2010, 09:48 PM
hehe, it hurts! Did you think about Egyptian Pyramids?:)
Nice concept, good luck!
01-20-2010, 09:51 PM
haha - ouch! Excellent :)
01-20-2010, 09:53 PM
i LOVE it!!
Great idea Michael!
"Attack of the Clumsy Friendly Giant"... Coming to a cinema near you!
01-20-2010, 10:18 PM
:bounce: lol. now thats a caracter. :D . made me laug for a while . cool design, cool idea, jus plain cool. hi five :D
01-21-2010, 01:56 AM
Hehehe! Really nice.
I really like the one hiding behind buildings!
01-21-2010, 03:36 AM
I lol'd very hard when i saw the thumbnail for your thread..I'd imagine a sky scraper to be very painful in this manner.
adorable creature design, and sound composition, well done :).
01-21-2010, 05:11 AM
Very nice and cute concept.
All the best
01-21-2010, 06:46 AM
I love this character...
awesome, he is so cute
01-21-2010, 10:58 AM
Fun concept like where this one is going.
01-21-2010, 11:10 AM
Lol this big guy rocks. I love this character.
I have a crit, though, and I hope you don't mind. I am having trouble seeing the "B Movie" about it, unless it is more along the lines of a tribute. Anyway, regardless, if you go through with it you will have one beautiful piece to showcase.
01-21-2010, 12:57 PM
i must say that this one is the most sweet IMHO. I really would love to see this come to life from you. :wavey:
Looks fun !
Nice universe you have.
01-21-2010, 02:24 PM
Awesome style, I like the big clumsy innocent looking monster. And the fact the he is surprised he smashed a building is pretty funny as well... Are you going for 3d or 2d image? either way good work man. Good luck!
01-21-2010, 02:40 PM
thats very cute!
very nice going
but i wanted to point a thing that i can not figure out if the monster is scared or whether he is like crying because of the pain in his foot?
gud luck anyway!
01-21-2010, 04:22 PM
01-21-2010, 09:51 PM
The last two concepts made me lol. :scream:
Looking forward for more.
Good luck with the challenge.
I'm thinking of leaving the city and planning a (mountain) valley vilage with a church on which he'll hurt himself. Ofcourse I hope I don't offend anobody with him damaging a church.
01-22-2010, 06:52 AM
I kind of like the idea of him walking in the city...but in the valley area might work well too :D Still like the look of his expression.
01-22-2010, 12:12 PM
hey michael! :)
love the idea!
and as far as i see it's going really really well.
i like the change of scenery too, little valley village instead of a big town ...
maybe throw in a couple of more monsters behind him that have face expressions like "ok, so we're not messing with this village"!!! :P
i'll be watching you,
01-22-2010, 01:34 PM
I think this is very interesting
like the environment change!
01-22-2010, 02:16 PM
Love this one! Very funny!
01-22-2010, 02:22 PM
I think if u'll go with a village instead of a city, u should group those houses and other architecture closer together.. just here and there it doesn't work so well in my opinion. Or if u stuck with the city, u dont need to make the monster so big that he hurts himself on a rooftop of some skyscraper. Make him walking down the streets.. streets have soooo much junk on them, that there shouldnt be a problem for the monster to step on something.. not being able to avoid that coz of its huge feet. Just my two cents :)
01-22-2010, 02:25 PM
A little village, much better!!!
I will looking all you work.
01-22-2010, 06:36 PM
i love the character and face expression.... by the way nice idea.
i wish you good luck!
sketching the first idea for monster, Next: reproportioning and shaping, resizing various bodyparts.
Thx guys for all comments, appreciate it! ;)
01-23-2010, 12:10 PM
wow he's cute :) I love the concept
01-23-2010, 12:17 PM
i like it
i think its working out well
lets see wts come up after you are done working on proportions and things
01-23-2010, 12:41 PM
very cool but i think nipples must be blue or gray or between these
01-23-2010, 12:43 PM
Very cute design especially with the color usage you have.
To give him that more goofy kind of look, I created some small proportion changes and some parts with hair on it's skin. The skin will have more of such areas where there will be these pieces/clumbs of hair and ofcourse there will be parts with just plain skin.
Good call, maham.. thx!
01-23-2010, 01:22 PM
really like how you fast you work, and I love the design of the creature :)
I'm looking forwart do the final piece
01-23-2010, 01:38 PM
looking great  keep us amused please
The old looks like an old fat lady, i prefer the new .
01-23-2010, 04:25 PM
just a Question:
you dont think that the teeth maybe could have a arc shape, in perspective to the inside the mouth, like your avatar character? :curious:
good job! (i like of the old version :wise: )
01-23-2010, 11:21 PM
awesome progress Michael. I liked the "old" version, maybe if you add the hair and details of the new one to the old one. But either way its looking great so far... keep it up !
01-23-2010, 11:27 PM
I think the new design will portray scale a little better. Something about the proportions before left me thinking it was a little monster stepping on an even smaller town.
01-24-2010, 07:01 AM
awww... that is the cutest monster! I love the style already - this is going to be fun to follow.
01-24-2010, 07:59 AM
Once again, you amaze us with your superb character design. I love watching your challenges develop and I'm glad to see you in this one.
01-24-2010, 08:24 AM
To take the scene in the valley is a nice change. But i liked the old proportions of your monster way better. it felt so cute and clumsy.
01-24-2010, 09:00 PM
Nice sketch, you gather "spectacular" / "strange behavior" and the "b-movie" actual challenge with the same piece ;) Good luck for the contest
01-24-2010, 09:03 PM
Your monsters are so stinking cute. I love them. :D I really dig the thorn in the foot. I laughed pretty hard at that one. I think he just needs a monster sized band aid. :)
01-24-2010, 10:17 PM
Very cool style and cute giant monster! Keep it up
01-25-2010, 12:38 AM
I can't wait to see the final image, it's looking awesome and each time i visit you never fail to put a smile on my face :applause:
I love your concept(s).
I know it's the still image category but I can really picture this moving... The monster screaming, hopping backwards, causing more damage, which hurts him more. Then, bursting into floods of tears, which wash away the remaining part of the village, before he finally realises that he's inadvertantly destroyed the whole town & looking up to his Dad monster for approval...
I am getting carried slightly carried away. Sorry! :D
hey tht creature is awesome:D  i love the second character concept , it gives a nice cutely stupid feel to the monster :D
01-25-2010, 01:49 PM
New beast seems more funny and stupid...and the wierd is that ..it is already "alive?!?"
01-26-2010, 02:23 AM
I love the pink belly- nice stuff
01-26-2010, 03:42 AM
how cute :) and funny too..
01-26-2010, 07:58 AM
hehehehehe ... man, I liked all of this sketches
and the one you choose , is just so brilliant, keep going :D
01-26-2010, 10:27 AM
Wow! I just love your concept!
Characters are simple yet dynamic.
Just a question did you use photoshop to make those drawings?
PS: can't wait to see the final on this :D
sorry guys, I'm getting older ;), not that fast anymore. haha, update coming soon!
First of all!...GREAT STUFF! the cute creature is ....CUTE! one of the most innocent monster ever! About if is better the old or the new ....ummm...i fell a blend is needed...umm...starting from the new one....something with a bit less hair and a bit less tall. Anyway just an opinion...i like both at last!!
01-28-2010, 09:09 AM
Hehe. I don't know if it was your intention, but he reminds me of the perv from Family Guy.
01-28-2010, 04:09 PM
lol Looks hilarious  keep going mate doing amazing job indeed :arteest:
01-29-2010, 03:34 AM

02-02-2010, 11:25 PM
the monster is so cute!! love it!!
Great concept for sure :D Like a lot the idea of a shy monster, really cool. The character design for the monster is fantastic. Your pre viz in a night city puts a cool touch to the concept.
