Isne't the nicest drawing but hope you can see what it is ;)
He lifes deep inside the forrest in swamps. His leg is attached to the swamp and he likes to make suprise attacks on people or creatures who dear step into his swamp ;). He overwhelm them with hes big slimy body and use his large hands to drag them down in a suprise attack.
It often has bones and other human part stuck to his "legs" from the the people he kill. He is The Swamp Creature

yah that's fast, keep it up man!
he probably used 3-4 lights such as. light blue as the key, another one somewhere close is blue but less intensive. and probably used 2 saturated orange-yellow lights as abient ones.
can the creator conferm if i'm right? :)

Looking good, keen to see more.....
Man I so badly want to do one of these challenges, I'm going to be going 24/7 for the next 10 days on a project I'm working on for a client, as soon as that is finished and if my workload will allow I'm going to have a crack at this one.
In the meantime, keep up the great work everybody.

Thanks all!
The lightning is just GI_Joe with an Area Light as main useing Maya 4.0.
It's going to be Textured when the scene model is complete if i have time enough. i'm not as fast 2d painter as 3D modeller.

Can I ask a stupid question? What is GI_JOE lighting?
thanks

GI_Joe is a GI Plugin for Maya. You can download it at highend3d.com.
Batmanuel
05-21-2002, 03:16 PM
It means global illumination lighting. There's a plugin that simulates GI lighting for Maya. I believe the guy that wrote it was Emanuel Campin aka PIXHO. He's really good with texturing and lighting aspects. If you wana know more, go to www.pixho.com

great start - the 'rib cage' bothers me though......
Mikkel Jans
05-21-2002, 07:56 PM
k, i see what i can do. Any ideas on how it could look like?
Houkah
05-21-2002, 09:43 PM
I dunno I'd like to see a few ribs and the rest hollow. Have the ribs be real rough wit bits of vegetation hanging off them and what not... just an idea. BTW cool scene so far.

I'm not trying to stir any sh*t or anything, but your concept sketch is amazingly similar to a concept sketch by Feng Zhou. That's a freaky resemblance if you weren't 'inspired' by his work...
Great job on the scene btw.

Nope, haven't seen the picture before. My inpiration comes from a game i remember playing many years ago named "Moon Stone" if anyone know it.

OOOOOOOOOh, I know that game, played it,......wait a minute, that was the most stupid game I ever played.
Well none the less, I think I remember seeing that kind of model in the game, anyway, solved the problem, I'm a hero !!, that was to much, wasn't it ?

"Moon Stone"..!
i LOVED THAT GAME...Never had it myself, but I played it alot at a friends...on a 486 I think...it was a pretty cool game.
Nice work though...coming along really nice.

ah, I loved the game. Have been searching for it to the PC. Maybe my memory is a bit clouded. I cant remember any guys like that from the game.
Anyway, I like your scene. Agree with the ribcage critique. I just think you should add two or three more ribs in the cage.

Hey this is looking great!!
You work really fast :surprised

Any ideas on how it could look like? the ribcage just looks too rounded, like layers of fat or something - hookah's idea about seeing a few ribs and some hollow areas sounds cool, even show like half of broken ribs too would look sweet - just think ; real thin skin (or no skin) and ribs

Thanks for all comments!
update.

A broken rip also sounds like a good idea. I will try that.

Much better on the ribs, how about refining the curves or them a litle.? just a thought.

I don't know...IMO I like the way the ribs are now. They look less human and more...ape like I guess.
LucentDreams
05-23-2002, 02:07 AM
apes are the same shape as humans.
urgaffel
05-23-2002, 03:37 AM
I'd bring in the lower ribs a little to round it out a little. It will still look massive, but smoother at the same time.
Chico
05-23-2002, 03:42 AM
I think its will just look alitle more natural At the moment they look simply bent, if you added a little more curve they would look more like they have acually been sculpted.
Some humans are the same as apes:p
Some humans are the same as lice:hmm:

My only crit at the moment is where you character "melts" or "blends" into the ground. Right now it shows that it was mirrored. I know it's a WIP but when you do weld the two halves together you should change the model to look different on each side in that section.
I like the refinement on the ribs...looks even better now.
Mikkel Jans
05-23-2002, 08:09 PM
Thanks!
Yes it's pretty obvious that it was mirrored ;). I will offcause change one of the halves when i combine them.

Hey, I really like the heavy fog you've added into the scene. I'm sure you are going to get a few posts saying "I can't see any of the details" but I think the fog and murkyness does a LOT for the originality and spookyness of your piece. When I first saw the new pic the first thing I thought of was the scene from the "blair witch project" where the girl is running through the woods screaming "what the f*@k is that!...what the f*@k is that" that part scared the pants off of me, because you could tell that something really freaky was over there but you didn't know what. Your picture has that same sense to it now. I definetly like it.

hey...I tryed playing around with that picture in Photoshop....and i think you should add some details and lots of bumbs, but also a batter light setup...

Definitely more contrast, the image adjustment really allows things to read but still jkeep what the original had for mood and atmosphere.
