View Full Version : Live selection Tool Vertex Painting ?

I saw this option in the Active Tool Manager when I was using the live selection tool so I cheched this option but nothing happened so I want to know how to use this option (Vertex Painting) and for what it's used !!

you use it in points mode to paint vertex maps for weighting texturing etc. if you've got a map selected it'll paint that, if you've not got a vertexmap tag selected it iwll make a new one.

well you can do all sorts of things with vertex maps... for instance why not try using them in the dirtynuts vertexmap shader to literally just paint onto the surface of an object, or even in the alpha channel of a material to blend between two materials smoothly on a surface.
you can also use them for deformations, if you use the restriction tag and just write in the name of the vertexmap tag, in there then deformations will only affect the areas of the mesh that the vertexmap is painted onto. you can see an example using bones to do soft selection type things in the tips area of the renderzone section on my website.
