View Full Version : MotionBillder windows dont fit to screen
cheerioboy 01-15-2010, 06:44 PM Are the windows not suppose to fit exactly to you resolution size? The way my MotionBuilder opens, there's a lot of space on the bottom and right that isn't used to fit the windows for each of the different layouts. Is there a certain resolution you're suppose to use with the software or a way to fix this?

There are a couple of prefabs that should do depending of what you're doing, and you can always change between them. They should always fill up the screen as much as possible (from what I remember..) but I never used motionbuilder on one screen alone, you really need 2 screens to have a proper setup for it.

Oh nice idea about the two screen setup, I just got a second monitor and should totally do that. I guess I found it odd that the default layouts weren't fitting to the screen but I suppose now I'll take all those default layouts and use them as guides to make two screen setups and save those. Is there a way to make a custom layout be the default on start up?
thanks for the response

Sure! Just pose around the windows as you'd like them and then go to the "layout" drop down menu, can't remember what the save name was but it's there, then motionbuilder will use that whenever you boot it up.
If you have two screens you should definitly go for it, I could never work on one myself, the program has too many tabs to deal with anyway. :)

Worked like a charm, I ended up taking the story layout and personalizing it to fit two screens. And it now loads at the default layout on start-up so that's cool!
This was a good work around to the problem with the default layouts

Glad to hear that it worked out fine! Motionbuilder is a nice app, and I hope they keep developing it because it's good with a program that don't contain all the modeling/rendering/lighting/.. menus.
