Hi all, I was wondering how the renderer in Maya actually rendering. Does the camera only render what it can see or does it actually rendering the whole scene, even if you can't see all the parts.
If it renders everything even if it's not in the focus of camera would mean it's taking up allot of rendering time for nothing.
If so, is there some script which would speed up this by only render what the camera see and not the whole scene?

what i definitly know is that it renders the backfaces (the ones of the surface you don't see). but you can switch that off for every surface (do this in the attribute spread sheet). the attribute is called "double sided" in the render tab.

what i think is, that the renderer at least tesselates all the surfaces. :hmm:
