Hello-

I've been teaching myself MAX for a number of years now. It's really just a hobby right now, but I'd love to incorporate it into my work/job someday. I've actually never finished a model in max after switching from Truespace several years ago. This is usually because I hit a snag, have to go and learn something new - which leads to new tutorials, thus new objects, and I end up starting something newer/better without finishing what prompted my new studies :) (can anyone sympathize?)

I'm just now starting to conceptually grasp the methods of patch, poly, spline, and sub-d modeling. I'm not proficient in them yet, but I'm learning.

Anywho, hopefully I'll finish this. Right now it' just an engine, but it is a small part of a larger project based on some of Feng's concept work (I don't think you can really tell from the engine itself).

Basically, I'm just looking for feedback on whether or not I'm doing things right, how it looks, etc. For this part, I modeled the engine body using a low poly cash with a meshsmooth on it. I collapsed it, and extruded/beveled/chamfered the details in. Still have a lot of work to do on the engine itself, but would like some feedback and accountability nonetheless.

Many thanks,

Looks very good. Your defently on the right track. My only suggestion is to ease up on the reflection abit. But Im sure that was just a quick preset. You are well on your way to being a modeler though the wire mesh looks very clean.
Keep it up!

Another small update... not getting enough time to work on this.

I added some detail to the rear, and front of the engine. I'm about to start adding the fin/wing/damper thingies on the back of the engines. I put a poly up to get an idea of where it would go.
