Hey,
It's been a while since I've been here. I started a new character by the name Gaslight-Batman. I am hoping you can give me good feed back as I am not finished modeling just yet. I also would like some help on the best way to create a cloak for a game character.

Heh, long time no chat :) This is starting well. What kind of spec are you going for ?

I'd be tempted to add an edge loop around the top of the gloves around the forearm to break that straight edge as in the original reference image it does this. Also I see the legs taper more going towards the knee on the toy. Hope this helps.

Hey Spud,

Looking great, I'm not sure how the cape is generated but it could certainly do with more width, like it rests over his arms to near the elbows, also it could probably do with coming all the way down to the floor.

Resolution wise I think the legs could do with some more rows of Edges for definition, when I say resolution I mean the polys in the legs could be around the same size as the torso polys. atm the legs use larger polys and the harsh angles show up alot more currently.

The edge loops on the elbows seem to be cut straight back from the front of the arm to the elbow, the elbow is usually lower down the arm so your edge loop would be angled downwards, this also means in animation/skinning you end up with a wedge shape to bend the arm in, this really helps with deformation.

Thanks for the reply. I will work on the legs a bit as your crits. I will try to work on the cape a bit more Col. I haven't full figured out how to use the cloth modifier. I try to post the changes soon.

Heh. The gloves are looking much better. I still think the thighs are a bit thick compared to the reference.

I have not used the cloth tools in max. I'm sure there is some sort of collision,deflectors etc to assign to the body to interact with the cape. Have a search for a tutorial for those.

In the max 2010 help section it has info. Below is the location of the collision properties ( I think, I did a quick search in the help section).

Select an object. > Modify panel > Modifier List > Object-Space Modifiers > Cloth > Object rollout > Object Properties button > Object Properties dialog > Highlight an object in the list. > Choose Collision Object. > Collision Properties group
