It was working fine (I thought), until... I selected the second bone to paint
Then not only there was no more paint, but even the one I had just applied to the first bone disappeared
And the brush just won't paint.

Has anyone gone through this before?

Oops! I knew I was missing something... Here are the screenshots:

As you can see the mesh couldn't be any simpler: a rectangle with one edge loop in the middle, with 2 bones, one per face.
Although I'm not new to Blender in general, I'm to anything related to animation, namely Armatures (I had done this before in other softwares though).
I'm using 2.49

Thanks in advance guys :)

when painting weight's you only see the wights of the active selected bone,
so that's one 'issue' solved. :)

not sure why the brush's stopped painting though. :curious:

I didn't mention that I'm using Win7.
I just tried a test on 2.5 and I do not have that problem there. Only in 2.49

I love 2.5, but I still can't use my 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator (3d mouse) with it

In my Paint tab I only have these buttons on: Mix, X-mirror.
And in my Modifiers tab I only have the Armature mod, with this button on: Vert.Groups

When I added the Armature I made sure my mesh was selected, without any rotations/scale, and located at 0.0.0. And did center the cursor on the mesh prior to adding the Armature.
After creating the bones I made sure it was in Pose mode before adding the Armature mod to the mesh, then started painting the first bone. Then I RMB click the second bone to continue, and that's when it would no longer work.

Last time that happened to me i had forgotten to fill in the ob field (object) of the armature modifier.
default to get started in the field would be Armature unless its name has been changed.

The "Active Object Name", yeah, I had called it something already.
My case must be different then

Update:
Nevermind! Got it! I was talking about the wrong OB, the one in Link & Materials. Whereas you were talking about the one in the Armature modifier.

You solved the puzzle Nifty! :bounce:
