Is there a rule of thumb for decal size/resolution? Thanks

Resolution has no meaning in A:M. It's all just pixel count, 1200px X 800 px, etc.

I've been told that it's good to determine the largest a decal will be seen in your animation and then double that. For instance, if you are rendering an animation at 640 X 480 and you have a close up of the face filling the screen, your face decal should be 1280 X 960.

In A:M, it's easy to replace the decals for different scenes by changing the shortcut to the image in the decal dropdown, to save on render time or to get more detail. Just create your highest res decal image, name it with the dimensions included in the name, and then create lower res versions of it, also naming them with the dimensions included. After you load them all into the Project, you can change the decal image through the decal dropdown to the lowest res image if the character is far away in the scene. Or change it to the highest res image if it's a closeup.
