View Full Version : Could use some trained eyes!
Grarr28 01-07-2010, 08:00 PM I am trying to tweak/polish as many of my clips as I can for my reel so that I can add it to my portfolio before I have to send it out to school. I have come to the conclusion, by going back and watching some of my work, that it would probably be better to start with the ones that are already better than the others.
The reason I am calling out to the CGS community is to try and get as many critiques on this stuff as I can and make it as good as I can. So if any of you could help me out that would be fantastic!

Here Grarr!
I couldn't get the first video to load unfortunately, probably my connection. But the for the second one, I'd insert some subtle movement in the head and lips, maybe he's chewing of them in anticipation. Also ease in and out the arm movements more when he picks up the phone and puts it down.
The fast action there looks great, but it also feels stiff right now.
The facial expressions are looking good, but I'd also exaggerate his expression at the end to maybe be sadder or angry or more annoyed. Just some thoughts to play with!

try animating the whole body rather than just a few parts. Try exaggerating the gestures more. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Alright so I have been doin some work on the telephone clip. I added in relatively subtle upper body twist and turns for the larger motions, hopefully this helps.
Also, is the first link not working still? I can try and re-upload or get a new link for it.
Thanks for the comments!

For your first clip I think his mouth could be changed a bit. It almost looks like he's grinning at times, and it doesn't open all that much. I think you could exaggerate that a bit more along with his face in general. Think more drooping and hopeless.

I think you have to exaggerate more, feel free to move the whole body. In the scene with the phone call, try to get the character to jump in surprise and then shrug up then down and show some emotion in the shoulders when he is upset, you need to push these emotions, your scene would be much more entertaining this way. Good luck and have fun assembling your reel!
