A friend of mine online has recently bought some character to use in his own game project but has run into the problem that they are about 50x too small for his environment. He has sent the models to me in order to fix but they already have a lot of animations on the file and there are no visible bones within the model.

I apologize because I am very new at this and I do not know how to go about scaling the character up to suit his needs. Is there anyone here who has experience with this problem and knows how to fix it? I am sure its something very simple that I have not learned yet.

Ah sorry about that. I am using Max 2009 but the model pack also came with some Maya files from what he told me. It looks like it was possibly rigged in maya then converted over to Max.

link to a dummy, scale the dummy.

this question has been asked and answered a lot, yo use the search function, you may find different options for scaling.

I just tried this out and I am able to scale the mesh but it will not allow me to scale the controls it is attached to? I have everything linked to the dummy through the schematic view. It just seems to move slightly in place.

First thing: don't scale the mesh.
Second, don't lnk everything, but just the top most parent.

Whoa, post order messed up again. Will it ever be fixed?

Ok after linking the topmost part of the chain which is listed as Bip01 I am having the same problem with it not wanting to scale. The mesh however seems to be separate from this chain and is not attached to anything.

Why didn't you mention that it's a biped in the first place?

check the help files for Biped and figure mode.

It's not a Maya thing, btw.

Ah I'm sorry I completely forgot about being able to adjust the biped in figure mode. I guess you could say its been a while since I have sat down and used max. Thank you for the help and sorry for the confusion.
