View Full Version : Pass switching is slow?

Does switching among 7 or more passes cause your XSI to go into a comma?

I've watched my memory and CPU usage and it's normal. Memory doesn't even budge, while the CPU gives 48% more than usual, still below 70% total. I don't see where the power crunch is coming from. The scene is relatively light with less than 100 low poly objects. Mesh editing, animation, and rendering are all lightning fast. The performance is only a problem when switching between the 18 passes. Also, its not terribly consistent; occasionally(rarely) it will switch from one pass to another instantly.

Is this normal? Is there a hardware upgrade or a software setting that might resolve it?

Thanks, Tui

Do you also have scene layers with visibility/render overrides?

Yes, I did.

I reorganized the scene to eliminate layers and it is much, much faster now. Thank you.
