Hi
I am just starting animation on my 2d short. Itīs planned as a hand-drawn deal.
This is a one man outfit, so I am looking for ways to deal with the coloring. I am not looking for a "short-cut" exactly, as I am aware of the challenges of lighting and rendering a decent scene..
My thought is to accomplish coloring by animating a basic 3d figure in maya, and compositing the 2d animation on-top. That way I get moving shadows, simple textures perhaps.
Anyone know of any similar projects? I know of only this one:
http://www.pearcesisters.com
They are animating the whole ordeal with quite basic figures in 3d FIRST, printing it out and animating on-top of the printed frames. While my thought was the other way around. Their procedure is one option for sure.
Will get some production stills up soon
