View Full Version : I've been trying to find a link I lost to a site that listed all the movies Max has
googlo 05-20-2002, 05:38 AM been used in. Anyone know the link I'm talking about? It was a like a compilation of movies 3ds Max was used in and it described in what capacity it was used too.

Hi,
Has the list been of any use to you? Anything else you'd like to see there?
Cheers,

Hey jed, thanks!
Kieron,
Yeah, it's cool to see what Max has been used for and in what way for film. Did you compile it?

yeah I did compile it, it's good to get feedback (you never know with these things) if it's been useful.
Cheers,

Its good to know that max is being used in the film industry. To tell you guys the truth I've been looking at other 3d products because I didn't think Max was very widely used. Still though it doesn't look like its used as much or plays as big a role as Maya or XSI.

sir Eel,
Yeah, well, most programs like XSI and Maya came to be exclusively for film type of production I think. I don't even think they ran on Windows operating systems initially. One thing that is really interesting though. Did you notice how each year, Max's listing of movie involvement has been increasing? If you look at Kieronh's list, you can literally see it happening. I mainly got interested in Max because of gaming cinematics, but it seems like Max is beginning to creep into the film industry for doing effects and what not, more and more, which I think is pretty cool :). I just got done reading an article where this one studio contracted out by Square Soft siad that they used Maya primarily, but used Max exclusively for all of the effects they did for CG scenes of the last few Final Fantasy series games that have been released for playstation. It's kind of funny because as Max is starting to be used more and more for film, Maya has decided to try and expand it's domain into the volume market of gaming and such.

Hi guys,
I think if you made a comparison by the number of shots done in either package it's massively in favour of Maya. I just wanted to show that it is used (a bit) as the perception is that it isn't at all.
With all the new 3rd party renderers coming out for Max now I think it is up for the task, if that happens or not only time will tell.
Cheers,
Kieron
