I don't think many people model with nurbs nowadays (even though it depends on what program they use)
Maybe you should rename this thread to:
Post cars you made with Rhino
...If I remember right that modeling procedure in Rhino is to use NURBS.

For instance I like the NURBS, and I use it yet. But I reckon NURBS only good for organic or hard sheeted modells, but for car? It's patch I think.....

nurbs are highly used by rhino mostly for cars... with any other program i wouldnt even try to use it

Sorry for posting non cars - I just wanted to emphasize the fact that nurbs is NOT only for organics (where it kind of sucks anyway).

All the cars in the world made since 3d modeling existed are in originally modeled in nurbs in my knowledge. Nurbs is great for subtle surface control and contiunity. In egenral good nurbs mechanics look tighter and cooler than 99% poly stuff. With trimmed surfaces and fillets you get good results - but not easily - you need mucj more planning and discipline than polymodeling.

The reason why nurbs is used is the accuracy of mathematical surfaces. The models can be used for other uses than illustration.

HeroChannel:- Yeah i kno Nurbs modeling is used for that type of modeling but we jut learnt Nurbs modelin with Maya 5 at skool and we for our FIRST projects we had to model a CAR ...can ya believe that .....a damn car as a first project .....anyway here are a few pics of my can and how it turned out ....

please be gentle....i know the back is a bumpy ( or maybe it is the raytracing and render but tell me what u think

If anyone ever modeled a car using Nurbs in Maya can you post it.....or for a matter of a fact ...any program

well all my cars are made in Rhino Nurbs, I'm not into messin with mesh, just nurbs, my plan is to build cars, and sofar have a few going into prototype. and this car should be in the real world in a few years. the other one I can't show you.

Excellent pictures!:applause:

Slimz, very good modelling with Nurbs for the 1st project, I have never think that the result will be this with Nurbs....Maybe in Max it's a bit difficult...I will try to make a Nurbs car in Max, I'm curious........

there is already a POST YOUR CAR thread and even though the topic is "NURBS" , we should all conclude that most CG cars are made using some form of subdivided mesh unless ofcourse they are low-poly. We only need one car thread IMO.

Hey, an integra!
I made that car, too!
...Well, using other method.

If you look into 'Post your car' thread that is already mentioned, most authors name their method of modelling. I remember there were load of cars made with nurbs, so do check it out. ;)
