i got a big scene which got heaps polygons and textures. evevytime i use mental ray with final gather to render, at the end of the rendering maya itself just shut down automatically and jump back to desktop without any signal. if i set the resolution to 320x240 i can always get the rendering done. set to 640x480 will shut itself down sometimes. set it larger, even worse. does it mean it got something to do with memory setting? i already have 1G RAM. does anyone know what's wrong or how to fix this problem?

Before rendering :

1. Check your available memory (via control panel)
2. Close any tasks or other programs
3. Optimized your project file (don't forget to save the original file)
4. Remove all history or unused node
