View Full Version : Character: elemental dragon
I made this in about 10~11 hours for a 24hr contest on www.elysiun.com. The contest's topic was 'elemental'. It's a slightly asian styled dragon, inspired by a koto concert I saw on Saturday night at the opera house - they played some modern compositions, one symbolising fire and I really enjoyed it :)
Spent the vast majority of the time on modelling, so the textures and lighting are a bit average, but oh well.

That looks good.
I would think if it was travelling through a landscape of fire that it would be lit up more brightly though - especially around the side of the head where it is dark. I'm not too sure about the blur on the front of the head either.
All the best. :)

Not bad at all. Nice to see some Blender work in the house again.

Yeah you're right. However I don't want to make it too bright, because I like having contrast, rather than washing it all out (to be 'realistic'). I made a small tweaking update, just so I can be happy about calling it 'finished' since the first one was kinda rushed! So I gave it a slightly stronger rim light like you suggested, as well as improved colours, got rid of the ugly blur on the head, added a subtle plume of smoke from the nostril.
Thanks for the comments, all!
