How many people here are experiencing problems importing materials? When I try to import materials, the PWS goes bersek and starts trying to piss me off. And it's working. Steve's response on the list was that they can't fix what they can't reproduce, and they are able to import materials just fine. So, post your system specs if you're experiencing this bug. Maybe there's a common factor.

Nope. Doesnt happen to me at all. I think it has to do with video cards. My old PC had an old ATI card that the PWS would go berserk. I run a Nvidia card under XP Pro and this hasnt happened to me in about a year.:)
I also asked a friend who has a new ATi card and it doesnt happen to him either.

with an ATIradeon in OpenGL mode, using the import option under materials.
But if I drag materials from the library, No problems! If they are new materials created in the project, no problem.
Haven't checked whether this bug appears in Direct3d mode, which I switched to so I could render shaded mode to file...

So try swiching realtime to direct3d, or make shortcuts to your materials using the library palette--actually the Library palette is a real time saver!

Pretty sure this is an older ATI card problem...

Had the same problem. The solution was to turn of the preview display in the open dialog/window. After that it hasn't happened.

Try that and let us know how it goes.

I voted 'yes' but found that it only really happened when importing older materials from earlier versions of AM.

I voted "yes"

There was nothing I could do to clear up the problem. Now the problem is just gone. I don't have it anymore *shrugs*. DOn't know what I did to get rid of it, but it's gone for me now.
