View Full Version : Full Sail Online - Part Time Available?
vcassel 01-02-2010, 04:34 AM I know there's plenty of Full Sail threads on here, and believe me I searched, but my question is very particular to the online program for Computer Animation. Is the online program available part time? As in 6 to 9 credit hours per semester? Is tuition paid on a semester to semester basis as in other accredited school? Or do you have to pay the year up front? Thanks!

just a thought, but those questions may be very specific, maybe you wanna ask the actual school about it.
Sorry if the post bothered you, and yes, of course I've thought the same thing, but I'm trying to figure out my finances this weekend and thought this would be a helpful place to get a quick answer before Monday since it is 'Courses and Schools'. But thank you very much all the same.

Response: Full Sail's claim to fame is that they offer a full BS in about 2.5 years. Even if they offered a part- time program, it would seem to go against their unique benefit.
More to the point: there is a LOT of negativity about the Full Sail education. All you have to do is search the web and in these forums for threads about Full Sail. Why would you want to go there with all this negativity?
You might be better served looking at AAU for online courses or Gnomon or Animation Mentor.

taxguy, I'm well aware of Full Sail's reputation. Further, and without insult, you're line of questioning is off topic and aims to delve at very personal reasons not pertinent to my specific question, but if you must really know, the issue is one of accreditation. I need an online school I can transfer my student loans and already gained credit hours over to. Full Sail fits that bill perfectly while being less expensive than my current school with the benefit of school books being included in tuition.

So I found out - Full Sail only offers 8 month blocks of a full course schedule, the first of which costs around $14,000. The 8 month blocks work effectively in sequence as Freshmen year to Senior year. Books are included in this tuition, but the LaunchBox Mac program is not. It's an extra $3000 that can also be covered by student loans.
I hope this info is helpful to the curious.

vcassel, just for the record, Academy of Art University is also fully accredited.

I know, it's also out of my price range unless I only want to take 2 courses at a time. Perhaps it may be worth the extra time given the quality of education.
