View Full Version : Paint Weights mess up
stoob 12-30-2009, 10:31 AM It's weird, everything was working great and the paint weights were ok, but now the paint weight tool and the joints all seem messed up, I paint one area with the correct joint and the verts are affected in completely all the wrong places.
Is this a bug or am I missing something?

The weights are normalizing to 1.0 you have to think of painting weights as subtracting away from the places oyu don't want them. The problem you described happens a lot when you use replace, and occasionally with smooth. I would say Never use replace unless it's using a vlaue of 1 or 0. If you use smooth, make sure your brush size is small and use smale circular strokes.
Sometimes it is better to just use the component editor to assign some weights.

Thanks, I never used replaced but smooth, I guess it's best waiting till the end of the weighting to smooth, and I'll try the small brush tip in future, I just started again!
