View Full Version : Vehicle: Dodge Viper RT-10 WIP
Spyd3r 08-24-2003, 10:19 AM Hey! Im new here and this is my first post:buttrock: ...
Anyway, im fairly new to 3D and have probably only started 3 months ago, and have been pretty sporadic in my practicing since...
This is about my third vehicle so far and i decided to do a viper simply due to the fact that i love this car!!! Anyway, id love some comments/crits/advice over my progress so far, it will all teach me something!...
The model was created with GMAX :thumbsdow and rendered using C4D ...
Also: i know the mesh looks shitty and lumpy in this pic and i am working on it... the wheels are also NOT MINE, but are being borrowed, again this is being rectified!
thanx:

nice!! apartr from the bumps it a good model. you will have to drasticly reduce the number of polys in that bumpy area, it seems like its far too dense.
Keep going:thumbsup:
Will
btw, good texture!:buttrock:

UNKNOWN LIMIT: Thanx m8! the comments are helpful!
in relation to the model, yeah those little bumps are really giving me the shits!!! me being newb and all means that i dont really know how to eliminate them, although they dont really show up in non-clay renders...
Also: the tex is just a generic C4D one which tooled around with a little!:p
anyway ill post a few wires and maybe someone will give me some advice!
thanx again!

how come it's all triangles? if it's not for a game then only use quads. that mesh is very dense though, could i see an un-subdivided wire?
nice model though.
Cheers,

It is all triangles because that is what quads are made out of. There is a discussion about this on one of the other forums about how modeling programs use triangles even if they are hidden. I'll go find it.

that one was un subdivided... hehehhehe.....
the tris are due to the fact that those pics came from C4D, which renders wires in this way, this one was taken directly from gmax son no tri's...
i am working on taking the poly count down but its very time consuming!
thanx!

I agree with unknown limit, that your unsubdivided mesh is too dense. That makes it harder for you to tweak the mesh when you need to...
Keep it coming! :scream:

Hey Spyd3r...I want to say that Viper model you got there is really nice. The only problem I have with it is...the doors and front end (hood) are connected together in one poly object. I think they should be in two seperate pieces. The doors and hood. Here are the images and I hope they should give you some ideas. Just want to helping you out there.

Not at all, C4D doesn't render wires that way, the only one which triangulates the mesh when wire rendering is Lw.
