View Full Version : How to make an edge from one vertex to another?
javierdl 12-27-2009, 09:18 PM In 3DSmax this would be called a "cut".
Thanks guys,

There is a make tri from quads (Ctr + T) and then rotate the edge created if it is not the one you want.
But I delete the quad and select the two edges and create with "f" a tri. Then the other.
I use also much selecting edges and subdivide them (w and first option) and then weld the vertices I don't want (w and merge)

don't delete the face, just hit "Ctrl+shif+f" and the egde is rotated

you're indirectly referencing nGons, which Max uses heavily. if the verts are already there, the edge exists.
to create new verts/geometry, You can perform a loop cut using ctrl-R, then hover the mouse over the middle of the edge you want cut. Knife (k) will make a cut (and create the needed verts) in whatever edges you cut. And, as has been noted, selecting the edges you want and performing a subdivide (w) will cut the edges evenly.
