Hey guys, I started this one a while back but havent posted till now.

Modeling is done, tho if you can think of anything you might like to see changed/added let me know, I might try and edit him still (it's never to late for a good idea)

Starting to texture him now.

Modeling in Clay/Maya, Texturing Photoshop,

Heres a screen grab from inside clay, I changed af ew things in Maya since here, but nothing terribly interesting.

only thing i can say is that i like the eyes better in the untextured screenshot -- they look more alive and intelligent. the textured screenshot makes his eyes look dull and unintelligent -- kinda like cow eyes or something. not to mention he looks really pissed off in the first one but kinda.... stoned in the second :)

other than that.... sweet arse :thumbsup:

good job so far I like him. Just one thing though. On his right shoulder, the head. Unless there is an actual story behind it, I don't see how it fits. It is bigger than his head, and quit frankly, looks a lot more fierce. I don't think I could believe this guy could take down one of those things that now is his shoulder pad. I would be more affraid of the beast that he uses as a shoulder pad then him. Just a thought...

I don't see the head as a problem, man has always hunted beasts far more fierce than him but has the advantage of tools, which it looks like this guy has in abundance, armour and all. It's a trophy, a warning, and I think once it's textured it'll look sweet.

hey guys thanks for the feedback.

Yeah I agree the thing on his shoulder must have been soem sort of beast...scary as heck.. maybe I will model it someday.

As far as the eeys he looks really dumb now cvause they are flat black, showing no inteligence or thought...why is this? well I havent gotten there yet (ah laziness)

But in all honesty he wont be as purple as he is now, those who saw the first texture pass saw how saturated he was to begin with, this will keep happening, he will end up something of a purpleish grey I assume, But heck int his digital age Maybe once its all said and done I can give a few more color combos (a fashionable demon to be sure)

He also has a captor I will be modeling soon, a little imp like guy (maybe a few of them) who guide and move this brute around.

Holy mother! Thats pretty workins you got there. That shoulder pad make me want hunt down some kinda giant monster and use its skull for my shoulders:) Love his horns and the whole design and flow of his head. Biggie sized arms are pretty sweet too.
Like the start of the textures too. Although im a huge contrast junkie and think this guy needs more beige...but its way to early for me to even say that...:)

Looks prety good,just lose the purple,it's puple rain all over again.;)
Hands are cool,and body shape size are cool.Head is pretyy bad ass too.:beer:

Actually I like the purple.

I can tell that you did a lot of concentration on the head. YOu went through painstakingly minute detail modeling and made that area look superb. I do think you should now concentrate on the legs, feet, hands, and chest/belly. Once you get the sculpting of these areas to be as excellent as your head, I think this could one of the best characters on cgtalk. Continue with it, and keep us posted!

That's looking cool, Ian :D

The purple definitely works for me, just add some subtle washes of grays and blues to offset it a bit. The textures on the stomach are coming along really nicely, you have a good skin look coming together there. Now add some warts and stuff - not too much, but just here and there.

The tattoos are a cool idea for sure, but when you decide on the final designs, rather go for a more evil, rougher design. These tribal designs are too pretty for a demon - can you imagine a demon tattooist sitting and carefully inking some pretty, intricate designs? I would imagine something a lot more cruel ;)

Might be nice to add some scars to his skin in places. A guy with armour like this is likely to get into a scrape or two ;)

One last thing - increase the lighting a little to get rid of the black shadows. They are now allowing the textures to be as visible as they should be!

Keep going, this is going to be a great addition to your reel! And here's to hoping it will be done by the end of the week :beer:

Don't get me wrong i love the purple:D I just think there needs to be more contrast in the skin tones to bring the purple out even more:) Kinda like what leigh said...

You need to get some dynamics on that skirt when the time comes. Some big arse club would look cool as well.

I think you need something to break up the symmetry of the legs at this point. Maybe a scar on one of them or something? Maybe a broken spear tip that's been imbedded in his leg or something?

You have so much interesting stuff at the top that the whole thing kind of gets basic by the bottom there. I'd love to see this guy animated!!

***EDIT***

I just realized that you hadn't gotten to the textures on the skirt or toenails yet. Disregard the above statements about any possible blandness until the rest of the textures are roughed in. :D

I love that monster, the head and mouth looks totally awesome and the armor rocks. :eek:

The texturing seems to be comming along very nicely, I actually like the purple too, cant wait to see it finnished.

I see Puzuzu has been making bad posts all over the forum, he/she has been kicked now I think. So just ignore them.

Are you planning to animate? and what is clay? I only ever heard of it once before. I guess it just a freeware modelling software.

Edit Here: Just found a thread with details about Clay. Just reliased that clay ain't released yet, it's in beta stages right? I'm now guessing it's not freeware. :) Seems to be pretty good too.

Very nice KingMob...............Rough,tough,fierce,a real creature built for battle.Modeling looks very nice,clean,and precise.textures are cool,nice blends and tones. I can only suggest you give him as dirty,mottled skin,scars as possible.Create some defects on various parts of the body as well to give him more of an un-symetrical look as possible.

As said before, some nasty scars and a much rougher and simpler tatto. maybe even a scarification instead of a tattoo?

Also you really need to add veins on those arms. some large ones.

I like this color of his stomach, maybe the same color would go nice on the arms?

and I think he should be a little dirtier. a day in the battlefield would leave you with mud, blood and messy dirt.

Of what you've textured so far, I think he needs some work on his lower lip. It's looking a little too slick right now and should probably have more lines and bump.

Looking great dude. The lips need to be more real... like right now they are too dry feeling. Drool would be nice, but at very least a nice difference in spec from the facial skin to the lips/inner mouth is definately needed. Maybe even try using the same texture you have, and use a layered shader to get more specific control over the shiny look you need to achive.

I can't wait until you move on to texture the straps and chains... hint hint ;)

It really looks awsome. But the straps on his head are way to thin! They would even be thin for a horse, and I guess he is a lot more violent than a horse. Match them with the thing in his mouth and around the neck!!

I actually kind of stopped working on it, and have been oding some other stuff lately, but here is the last shot i rendered (for my demo reel)

That is a wicked model and texture, the bump maps are perfect. its good, guuuuuud! can't wait to see an enviro-render.
only one thing, the purple isn't really that hot and hopefully the lighting will be a little brighter.

other than that, i'm drooling to see more. excellent work!

dude it looks awesome, but i think you should think for somethink else on the rest of the head exept the face, i mean the back of the head. it's not realy nice that way, make it more terible monster :)
