View Full Version : Virtual Mirror in C4D?

Hi,

I was wondering if there was a better way to create a virtual mirror setup in C4D for modeling with symmetry, other than instance->scale negative direction->create HyperNURBS->assign to HyperNURBS. Can I combo these actions together by some chance and save it as a tool similiar to MEL->Shelf in Maya?

Thanks,

Wouldn't be better to use a symmetry object?

I tried symmetry, but I could not get it to mirror on the negative side of my model with the mirror plane option or the negative scale coord. Any advise?

Thanks,

hi, the important thing with the mirror is to centre it's axis on the objects axis first and make sure it's using the right plane to mirror through (don't bother changeing the scale of the mirror object), then the usual structure is:

Hypernurbs
-Mirror
--Object

after that you should have no dificulty.

failing that, the old trick of simply putting in -1 in the scale of a duplicate of your objec, of you could use an instance and negatively scale that by 1 (though you should remember to be in "Object mode" rather then "model mode" to do this, otherwise there's a good chance it will ignore the transform.

as for making a preset, just put the hn+mirror object in a scene, and save the scene to Library/Object/ and it will appear in the object menu under library from now on.

hope that some of this helps.

Nice. Thanks for the help.
