hi..

I had created a text with Nurbs curves and beveled it and now, I want to extract curves on surface which is not possible cause the text thing is not closed. even though I close it with planar trim, Im not able to compleatly attach it (what ever term it needs) to the nurbs text. any bdy please help me otta this.. breaking my head over and over.

bye then.. will be wating for a post of lesson

well.. if not borin' please help me out with a tip or some trick with this text problem.. my situatuation is as follows...

created a nurbs text,
Beveled it with needed tweaks..
now, deleated History...
created planars for the Outer and Inner Ioparms of the Bevel.

that's it.. now, I need to combine both of these (planar and Bevel) to one single object. so that, If i could extract any curves on the surface which passes throug the whole geometry (planar+Bevel).

Hope sobdy had/got this problem solved.. Plz Im deperatly needed of help.

planar only creates a flat planar surface, even though you trim it, its still a square surface. i am guessing u want to select the outer curve of the planar trimmed surface?
just right click and choose trim edge and then you can duplicate that surface curve. (under Edit Curves>Duplicate Surface Curves.)

if not, please explain more. pic would be good.

you cant just attach the planar with the bevel. You could pick the last row 2 rows of cvs and make it planar by hand or you simply use Bevel+ to create the whole text. What is the problem with the letters being 2 surfaces?

hil... thx for the replys...
and sorry for being late to post(This window eate my text more than 3 times -- relogging!!!)

well.. what I want is differenet from the point U were thinking abt.

let me be precise abt what I wanna do with Nurbs.. here goes my prob...

think U have created a rectangular surface from a curve.. U'll get the surface patchs with some xU's and some xV's of curves.
when U could extract or duplicate any number of the curves from the surface once the Isoparms are selectible (which runs all over the surface).

what I want is, I need to create a text with nurbs and bevel it and close the ends with what ever method that would create a continual surface patch and curves of U and V. so that I can extract the curves from U section (think of a wire framed text of U isoparms or U curves).

Hope this has strike some ideas over for U... I f incase no way to do in my way.. I would like to take a lesson about creating text in maya -- help me find some good links abt modeling precisely what I want to.. or else any better methods are appreciated...

Thanks for wasting Ur time and hope this is not the final reply for this thread... BYE...
