Ok
I'm modeling a room. Simple enough right?
Well I'm having a problem
Now I know I could probably start over from scratch and have it fixed quicker than trying to find an answer online but I feel like I'm always running into this problem one way or another.
Here are some photos describing the problem:
1. I make a box for the floor of the room
http://www.xquisit3.com/container1/imakeabox.jpg
2. I never extrude or inset because this causes diagonal edge problems later right? (inform me if I'm wrong) I'd usually connect the edges, then extrude the new faces.
but this time I needed to build walls that wouldn't effect the size of the original plain so I wanted to extrude the edges outward and then extrude them upward (see below)
http://www.xquisit3.com/container1/extrudeoutward.jpg

Now my question is: how do I fix that dent on the corner?
here is what I've tried:
Selecting both faces on one side and extruding them.

http://www.xquisit3.com/container1/exdudingthem.jpg
Now sure this solves my problem... for now.
But I have these faces that aren't really connected and some how that bothers me.

I've tried welding
http://www.xquisit3.com/container1/weld.jpg
Target welding (Doesn't work either, Doesn't let me select vertices I want)
Connect (nothing happens)
Attach ( That's not for attaching parts within the same object right?)
Collapse (Doesn't work either, gives me the same result as weld)
Also tried options with edge select and face select but to no avail.
So you can either answer the first question or this one: how can I get these to sides to connect and be the same as if I connected and extruded as I mentioned in the beginning?
Thanks for your help in advance!
