I have a footage that the camera turns 180, and i need to do a matte painting in the scenario, but how can i be able to attach my matte painting in the footage and deal with all that perspective change ?

tracking individual parts wont work..



Should I create a HDRI image ?
or maybe, break in individual elements and compose them in a 3d space ?

dont forget that the waves will be moving


final frame: without pixel aspect ratio, 1.3333

i will erase those houses and add a 3d castle.

Maybe you can get away with diferent patches for the houses or you could project the matepaint onto a piece of geo that resembles the cliff and isolate the sea with a roto,

I would think that you could do a low poly model of the set and project your plate onto it, to give the accurate distortion with the scene, and then use that as your backdrop. I know you could do this in Blender.

when you say it does a 180, is that on a tripod? I only ask because if so then that is a nodal pan where there isn't any perspective shift. It makes putting a matte painting in there really easy.

You can just do basic 2d tracks or use a 3d tracker and export 2d tracks from it. There isn't any perspective shift in a nodal pan.
