I originally posted this to the wrong section:

Since it IS a WIP, I'm moving it over here. I've put it into an environment now (which is not totally finished). I would like some input on the car paint. Is it too red? Is it still too shiney?

I still have alot of work to do on the tires & wheels. I need to model an interior so I can do away with the "chrome" glass. I also plan on creating a cowl section with wiper's.

Any additional tips would be great.

Thanks.

The window's look like they are too shiney... the paint looks a lil to red... maybe a lil lighter red... and the tires need some texture to em... the forced induction vents look boxy... and the center point in the front looks a lil to pointy... needs to be rounded a lil but look like the right shape and sticks out just right.. just round it a lil

I have to agree with asylum that the hood scoops look too boxy, but it could just be the environmental reflections that give that illusion.

The center point in the front looks spot on to me, it may even need to be a bit crisper at the crease in the middle.

Good looking model!

Thanks for the tips, you guys are correct. After looking at it, the ram air part of the hood is a bit "boxy", I will smooth those.

I will try to tone the reflections down in the glass too.

I also thought it to be a shade too red, but I wanted an outside opinion. I think my shader highlights are a bit too bright. I will tone that down and see what happens.

Krisc, Thank you very much! I could not decide whether those bricks were correctly sized or not...I too thought they were a tad large for the scene, but then there are some small ones in there too that threw me off. But you settled it, if you noticed it too, then they are too big.

Any tips to make the environment a bit better? I'm thinking of a sign or two on the wall, and a small bit of trash/dirt on the ground.

Thanks again.

Hi,
I just wanted to comment on your sweet lighting setup. It has that "it's-really-there!" look to it. Would I be correct assuming it's a Brazil render using HRDI for lighting?
And, since this thread is about the car, the thing that caught my eye was the black lines on the body panels; especially at the hood/headlight/front bumper intersection. It looks like the black lines are ON the surface of the panels. If you want to bump up the realism a notch, you might want to consider physically separating the body panels so you can add a properly scaled edge bevel where they meet. Right now it looks like the car is one solid piece of metal on the front end, and it may help a bit. It would be a lot of work though...

Best regards,
Michael A. Barnes
(BTW, you can never get a Trans Am TOO red. :D )

Michaelb, you are correct (all points). The render is Brazil with HDRI for the lighting. I do have one spotlight casting the tree shadows as well.

The body lines are just that, lines on the body. I purchased the car from turbosquid. I've had to do a fair bit of vert welding, and clean up, but there's still alot more to do. I will separate the car into panels like you said (in time).

Here's a small update, I've made the paint a shade darker, started modeling an interior (which is unfinished, hence the transparent tail lights in this pic..lol), changed rims, the tires have tread now.

I've also scaled the vehicle a bit larger to try and fix the brick size issue.

future plans are to finish the interior, separate the car model into actual pieces, fix the ram air intake (Maybe make a different hood all together), model the parking lights, etc.

Thanks for the C&C's.
