Hi all the Maya gurus! I'm very new to Maya. Currently I'm working on this project using Maya and I have the following two problems. Really appreicate if you could help me out with this:
1. In the NURBS surface context, refer to the opening of the extruded tube (http://www.flickr.com/photos/21514672@N02/4187740268/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/21514672@N02/4187740268/)), how to close/seal/cap the circular opening? This problem is equivalent to how to turn a circle (curve) to a circular patch (surface), as shown here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/21514672@N02/4186978613/in/photostream/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/21514672@N02/4186978613/in/photostream/)). (*Loft works when there are two curves so that a surface patch can be built between, in this case, the circle is considered one curve
2. Generally in the NURBS surface context, I have a problem on how to merge/combine different curves/surfaces into one single unit curve/surface/object, such that when the merged/combined unit is selected and moved by Translation, it will move as a whole and the components will not fall apart. (or there is such a merge/combine function in the first place?)
For example, 4 planes are created (create -> NURBS primitives -> Plane), the four sides of the upper two planes are lofted and so are the four sides of lower two (http://www.flickr.com/photos/21514672@N02/4187740528/in/photostream/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/21514672@N02/4187740528/in/photostream/)) . Now they are one box on top of the other (http://www.flickr.com/photos/21514672@N02/4187740718/in/photostream/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/21514672@N02/4187740718/in/photostream/)). Then I use Boolean operations (Edit NURBS -> Booleans -> Union Tool) to merge/combine the two boxes. I thought now the two boxes are one single object and can move as one piece, then I ‘select all’ and do a translation (MEL: move -r 2 2 2), they just fall apart as shown (http://www.flickr.com/photos/21514672@N02/4186979101/in/photostream/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/21514672@N02/4186979101/in/photostream/)
Enlighten me please!
