Hey guys,
Here's the deal: I have a 10K x 10K texture I'm trying to work with... I was planning on probably trying it out as a texture by itself, but was thinking I'd probably havr to convert it to a BOT file for memory reasons...
I have 1.5 GB of RAM in this computer, if that matters....
Anyway. I tried to import the file into Maya. I simply got the message "Warning. Texture file ******* is too big"
Another time I tried it, it just instantly said "Error: Image conversion (to IFF) failed"
So, it's too big. OOOOKAAAYYYYY.... How big ISN'T too big? I can't find this info anywhere in the docs.
Then I tried to make the BOT file. I typed in the command to convert the BOT file, and after a minute or so of chugging away on making it, I just get a runtime error with maya and it's forced to close. The script window tells me "exception thrown. Free memory is low."
So, obviously, it's running out of RAM trying to make my BOT file.
So what are my options here? Does anyone know the maximum res. of texture files in Maya? Or is there another way to make a BOT file? One that will try to work, even if it has to go into virtual memory?
Thanks for your help.
Ricky
