Hello,

i don`t get it. Let`s say i have a polygon object. Let`s say a cube.
Now i want to assign a certain material to 5 sides (5 polys) of the cube and another material to the last side (poly). How can i do that?

thanks

Convert cube to editable mesh. Go to the very bottom of the edit rollout, select sides you want to have one material, change their ID to 1, select the side you want another material for, set its ID to 2.

In Medit, create a new Multi-sub material, set number of sub-mtls to 2. Create a new materials for the two slots. Set first material's ID to 1, second mtl's ID to 2

You're all set.

Dont forget to change the map channel in every map you work with in the multi subobject material!!!!

I would just make a single uv map and then UV wrap it in ten seconds.

that's true TheWriter, but what if you need to control with precision, specular, bumping, glossiness, or anything else in both materials separately?

Of course, Multi subobject mat is the best choice...
